How to improve the welding quality of titanium tube?

Due to the strong activity of the titanium tube, the welding of the titanium tube has strict requirements on the control of welding temperature, the protective effect of the protective gas and the welding environment. A slight mistake will have a great impact on the welding quality, and it will lead to the scrap of the product in serious cases. Practice has proved that: through the analysis of the main factors affecting the welding quality, determine the key process of welding, strengthen the control of the environment, personnel, welding parameters and methods in the welding process, can effectively ensure the welding quality of titanium tube materials to be further improved and prevent the appearance of welding waste.

In recent years, a new titanium tube has been widely used. Due to its light weight, high strength, corrosion resistance and other properties and characteristics, titanium alloy has been widely used in aerospace, petrochemical and mechanical manufacturing fields, but also in the pipeline construction of surface ships for the first time. However, because titanium alloy is a kind of active metal, it has a great affinity for oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen and other gases at high temperature, that is, the ability to absorb and dissolve gases is very strong, especially in the welding process, this ability is accompanied by the increase of welding temperature, and the performance is particularly strong. Practice has proved that if the absorption and dissolution of titanium alloy and oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen and other gases are not controlled during welding, it will eventually lead to the scrap of the product. Therefore, the welding of titanium pipe joint must be effectively prevented and controlled to meet the quality requirements of welding.

Welding requirements for titanium pipe joints:

Welding personnel should wear clean work clothes, and there should be no oil stains. Use white gauze gloves for welding gloves. Do not wear gloves of cotton or other fabrics.

The welding platform layout, the welding area of the welding head decontamination with the wire brush and other materials, should be made of stainless steel materials, it is strictly prohibited to use carbon steel and other polluted materials.

The welding site should be set indoors or in a dedicated welding workshop as far as possible. Smoking is strictly prohibited indoors. The environment should be kept clean and dry, the room temperature should not be lower than 5℃, and the air convection should be strictly controlled.

In order to obtain better welding quality, as far as possible, the butt pipe end is processed into Ⅴ groove, and the welding area and the surface of the welding wire are degreased with acetone.
