Several methods are commonly used for cutting titanium plate
The titanium plate must be cut before forming. Titanium plate cutting is also used conventional sawing, milling, punching and shearing methods. Because of the high strength of titanium plate, it is different from aluminum alloy.
A band saw. Band saw has high processing efficiency and convenient production preparation, but it is not suitable for processing too thin materials. It is often used for cutting titanium plates with a thickness of more than 3 mm. This method does not produce edge cracks, its disadvantage is burr, must be polished after blanking. At present, it is used for cutting edge, trimming edge and cutting end.
Band saw cutting can be divided into three categories: friction type, semi-friction type and ordinary band saw. Friction band saw working due to high linear speed, saw blade and workpiece between intense friction, high temperature in the cutting area, thus reducing the cutting resistance of materials, improve the workability, high efficiency.
The tape used for sawing titanium should be rigid structure with enough power to maintain a constant speed when sawing. Should be able to automatically feed, tensioned band saw and provide sufficient coolant. The edge can be maintained with a regular high speed steel band saw, with stable results. Saw blades with tungsten carbide blades are used for cutting extremely thick materials to reduce burr height and depth affected by heat.
Milling. A stack of titanium plates is cut to desired shape with a milling cutter, with the milling head moving along the milling pattern, or automatically with a large CNC sheet metal milling machine. For the stretched edges such as concave curves or flanging, polish the waist before forming to prevent cracks.
Cut. To manufacture wool or parts of straight shape, which can be cut on a gantry shearing machine. If using an ordinary shearing machine, carefully check that the equipment can cut the titanium plate. Titanium alloy plates with thickness of up to 35 mm can be cut to the required size under production conditions. Thicker sheets can be cut if necessary measures are taken to avoid slippage during shearing. In order to prevent skid, need to use a larger clamping pressure. The linear deviation on the edge of the cut titanium plate, especially for thicker titanium plates, is 0.25 to 0.50 mm. This deviation is usually caused by insufficient rigidity of the cutting edge. This defect is sometimes overcome by using a thicker cutting edge.
Titanium plate can also be used ordinary rolling shear equipment. Circular shear can cut contour lines with large curvature radius (as small as 250 mm radius). This method is used for titanium plates with thickness less than 2.5 mm F. The current vibrating shearing machine is only suitable for cutting titanium plate with a thickness of about 2mm, and the cut edge of the raw material must be filed or ground, leaving a file allowance of more than 0.25mm. For thin materials (thickness < 0.8mm), when the quantity is small, can also use lever type manual cutting or hand cutting material.
Punch cut. Generally, the desired shape of wool is cut out at one punch. Usually for simple shape wool, the cutting thickness is about 3 mm. The die of titanium plate should be rigid enough, and the guide post should be used to keep the relative position of the upper and lower die accurately. When manufacturing all kinds of flat parts or all kinds of shapes of wool, the small size of the titanium plate punching and the small radius of the connecting edge of the punching parts should meet the requirements.
In addition, it can also use punching shear machine for this material, processing according to the template to small punching die out of the crescent incision, and make it connected, so as to cut out parts burr, and then repair the edge of the edge quality and precision are not as good as punching die blanking, efficiency is not high. Punching and shearing machining has the advantage of short production preparation cycle, often used in small batch production.
