Tantalum has a wide range of applications due to its characteristics, which can be divided into the following categories
(1) Tantalum application in aerospace industry: manufacturing engine parts of jet aircraft, space shuttle and rocket, such as combustion chamber, combustion catheter, turbo pump, rocket accelerator nozzle, spacecraft propulsion afterburner and nozzle valve, etc. Tantalum is also a good structural material for jet aircraft, rockets and missiles, and is often used in the manufacture of fairing.
(2) Tantalum's application in military industry: it is used to make the lining of armour-piercing projectile, which is mainly used in the United States. The famous "Ceramic" anti-tank missile USES tantalum metal as the armor breaking material.
(3) Tantalum for the production of tantalum capacitors: Tantalum powder and tantalum wire are the key materials for the production of tantalum capacitors. Tantalum capacitors are the most excellent capacitors, and are mainly used in radar, missiles, electronic computers and automobile electronics. This is also the largest application of tantalum extraction.
(4) Tantalum is used to make high-temperature tantalum products: Tantalum can withstand high temperature, with good strength and stiffness. It is a high-quality material for making heating parts, heat insulation parts and charging utensils for vacuum high-temperature furnaces.
(5) Tantalum is used to make corrosion-resistant products: Tantalum is a high-quality material resistant to acid, alkali and liquid metal corrosion. It can be used in the chemical industry to make digester, heater, cooler, crucible and other utensils.
(6) Tantalum carbide as an additive: carbide is mainly used as cutting tools, tools, molds and parts of wear and corrosion resistant structures. Adding tantalum carbide can improve its hardness, strength, melting point and other properties.
(7) Tantalum oxide and niobium oxide are raw materials for tantalum niobium oxide artificial crystals: Tantalum pentoxide and niobium pentoxide are raw materials for making LT, LN and other crystals, LT and LN are important piezoelectric, thermoelectric and nonlinear optical materials, and have important applications in atomic energy, laser, micro-acoustic wave and other technical fields.
(8) Other applications: cathode sputtering tantalum coating, tantalum active materials for high vacuum air suction pump, tantalum pentoxide and niobium pentoxide as optical glass modifier and chemical catalyst, tantalum metal for medical treatment can be used as human body (bone, nerve) repair materials, and has good affinity for human body structure.
