Three methods of stamping titanium tee and their processes

Titanium tee made by stamping process is a one-time integral forming of seamless tube billet, mainly extrusion forming, and the mechanical properties of the obtained parts are better than those of welded tee parts. The process of stamping forming three main methods: filler extrusion forming, hydraulic expansion, hot pressing forming, the specific process is as follows:

1. Extrusion forming of packing:
Packing extrusion forming process, using the internal filling of the straight tube blank extrusion forming. The tube blank is put into the mold cavity and closed, and then the punch with the same diameter size of the tube is pushed from both sides at the same speed, and the tube blank is extruded from the radial hole opened on the mold with the filler under the action of both ends. In order to prevent the branch pipe from bursting under the action of pressure in the packing, a balanced punch is installed in the radial hole of the die, and enough balanced pressure is applied to the extruded branch pipe to support the violent expansion of the branch pipe.

The wall thickness of the titanium tee pipe extruded by the packing extrusion process is the same in all directions, the coarse deformation of the pier is small, and the height of the extruded part is 2~-3 times of the pipe diameter. The packing and the metal tube move synchronously in the mold cavity, and the inner wall of the pipe fittings has no mechanical damage. One of the key technologies of this process is the selection of swelling medium fillers. The swelling medium mainly includes paraffin, butter, clay, nylon, silicone rubber and polyurethane rubber. The three-way parts with high inner wall requirements can choose nylon, polyurethane rubber, silicone rubber as the medium; For the inner wall requirements are not too high or no requirements of the workpiece can be used as a medium paraffin wax, can be recycled, and the cost is low.

2. Hydraulic expansion:
Three-way hydraulic expansion is a kind of forming process through the metal material axial compensation expansion branch pipe. The working principle is to use a hydraulic press to put the tube blank with the same diameter as the titanium tee into the cavity, press the mold tightly, and inject the liquid into the tube blank. Through the two horizontal side cylinders of the hydraulic press, the tube blank is squeezed in a relative motion, and the volume of the tube blank becomes smaller after being squeezed, and the liquid in the tube blank increases in pressure with the tube blank volume becoming smaller. Under the double action of the high pressure liquid of the tube blank and the extrusion pressure of the left and right axes, the shape and size of the branch pipe are expanded along the inner cavity of the die. In order to prevent the branch pipe from breaking, it is necessary to add a balanced punch force to support the branch pipe's severe deformation.

Hydraulic expansion titanium tee is suitable for forming materials as carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel with relatively low cold-work hardening tendency, including some non-ferrous metal materials, such as copper, aluminum, titanium and so on.

Third, hot press forming:
Hot pressing is pressed into a tee after heating, and the equipment tonnage required for material molding is low. The process is to flatten the tube blank larger than the diameter of the titanium tee to the size of the tee diameter, and open a hole in the branch pipe to heat the tube blank. In the process of radial compression, the metal will flow in the direction of the branch pipe and form the branch pipe under the tension of the die. The whole process of hot forming is through the radial compression of the tube blank and the drawing process of the branch pipe. The difference between the forming tee and the hydraulic expansion is that the metal of the tee branch pipe is compensated by the radial motion of the tube blank, so it is also called the radial compensation process.

Hot pressing titanium tee is suitable for low carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel materials, especially the tee with large diameter and thicker tube wall, often using hot pressing process to manufacture.
