The concept and production technology of titanium rod reversible cold rolling
Reversible rolling refers to the process where the titanium rod is repeatedly compressed and deformed on the rolling machine, resulting in the final product with the desired thickness. The equipment of a reversible rolling machine is relatively simple, consisting of a titanium coil transportation and unwinding equipment, a rolling machine, front and rear coil take-up machines, and coil unloading and output equipment. Some rolling machines may add a rewinding and take-up machine before or after the rolling process based on technical requirements.
Cold-rolled materials are supplied by the hot-rolled rolling unit, and the single roll weight of the hot-rolled titanium coil is relatively small. The titanium coil can have its head and tail removed on the unwinding unit and be welded and spliced to improve the production capacity of the cold-rolling process.
Before the hot-rolled titanium rod enters the cold-rolling machine, it must undergo acid washing, with the aim of removing the oxide scale on the surface of the titanium rod, making the surface of the cold-rolled titanium rod smooth and ensuring the smooth progress of the rolling process.
The hot-rolled titanium coil that has undergone acid washing is lifted from the central warehouse onto the saddle of the chain conveyor. The conveyor chain transports the titanium coil to the unwinding position for unwinding. The extended leading end is introduced into the three-roll straightening machine by the falling hook head machine and sent into the roll gap through the movable guide plate. The leading end passes through the raised or closed roll gap to the exit side coil take-up machine and is inserted into the clamp of the coil drum to be tightened. After winding several turns around the titanium rod thickness, the pressure and tension are adjusted, and then the pressure guide plate before the rolling machine is lowered, and the rolling liquid is applied. The rolling machine is started and the speed is increased to the normal speed according to the rolling condition for the first pass of rolling.
When the titanium coil is about to be rolled, the rolling machine should be decelerated and stopped in time to make the tail end stop on the inlet side coil take-up machine drum. After the drum clamp bites the tail end, the rolling worker follows the procedure to set the second pass pressure, the operator selects the tension, applies the rolling liquid, and the rolling machine changes direction for rolling.
According to the type of titanium and the standard, each rolling process undergoes 3 to 7 passes of reversible rolling. When the reversible rolling reaches the odd-numbered pass and reaches the product thickness, based on the quality of the tail end, the roll gap is raised or closed to swing the tail end. On the coil take-up machine drum, the tail end is skillfully welded to the outer circle of the titanium coil or tied securely with a strap, and the titanium coil is transported out of the drum by the unloading trolley, then overturned onto the titanium coil collection trough, marked with the roll number, and can be lifted to the next process for continuous production.
